QUICK PESTO SAUCE

Pesto with the nephews

Alright so people have been asking me how to make pesto sauce. And at one time in my life i too was wondering how this green minty sauce was made. When you taste pesto sauce it seems so refreshingly new and sophisticated that it has to be hard to make right?

Well it turns out that it's pretty easy to make and only has about 4-5 ingredients.

Basil leaves- I was lucky, my mom was growing Italian basil in the back yard so i just picked about a cup right off the plants but you can find them at the local store for really cheap.

Olive oil - this is what gives it that liquid consistency and if you use extra virgin olive oil you will get a richer taste.

Garlic - I like a strong garlic pesto on mine but its up to you how much garlic you put, start off with a clove and work your way up.

Pine nuts - Normally you would use pine nuts, first you would lightly toast them either in the oven or in a fraying pan. But if there are no pine nuts in your area you can use walnuts.

Cheese - traditionally you would use a Parmesan cheese but last time i made pesto was in the Philippines I used some left over queso de bola, which is an Edam cheese if im not mistaken. It it is dry and salty like Parmesan cheese. Unfortunately in the video i forgot to put cheese in. "so sorry"

then last , salt and pepper to taste.

Here a quick Low quality video my nephew and i did just for you guys.
