CARNE ASADA FRIES

Must try before you die!

I grew up in San Diego, California and I lived there for about 10 years. Most of my best childhood memories came from there. Most of my closest and dearest friends are from there. So it wouldn't be a surprise that one of my favorite dishes are from there.

QUICK PESTO SAUCE

Pesto with the nephews

Alright so people have been asking me how to make pesto sauce. And at one time in my life i too was wondering how this green minty sauce was made. When you taste pesto sauce it seems so refreshingly new and sophisticated that it has to be hard to make right?

Steamed White Fish

A Healthy Low Carb meal for under 50 pesos

This week I had an awakening. I was a groomsman for my friends wedding and I had the hardest time finding a suit that fit me. I figured it would be hard since i was dealing with Filipino sizes but that wasn't the case. Even the vest that was bought in the states was to small for my belly that in the last 6 months gained a few inches. So as soon as the celebration was over I went home and decided I needed to make a life style change.

Corned Tuna and Mango salsa

Sarap in my Home

Today I saw a short show on TV where they were endorsing a canned tuna brand,San Marino Corned Tuna

When I think of canned tuna I eaither think of Tuna Sandwich or Tuna Patties.
I decided to make tuna patties and since I haven't been eating too many fruits lately I decided to top it with a sweet and creamy mango/avocado salsa. Your going to need...

"KFC" Chicken sisig

So after class I went over to my classmates pad to use the internet since my net has been acting up.

Sweet Summer Treat

Walnut Banana French Toast

When I woke up this morning I had a strange craving for french toast. I think my craving came from the many facebook tags I've been getting. It's summer and most of my friends are out on vacation so all I've been seeing are instagram pictures of food they are eating at the hotel buffet or on the beach somewhere.

Teach me how to jerk

Bee Cheng Hiang - Barbecued Pork Jerky

A few weeks ago my cousin went to Hong Kong for the weekend. When she got back she brought the family some jerky from a store called Bee Cheng Hiang. Now I don't think she knows but I am a big fan of jerky. I think I can trace my jerky love to when I was a...

He has been on vacation here in the Philippines for 3 weeks and all we have been doing is eating Filipino food and unfortunately for me the hot weather and a bad dish of Pinoy style spaghetti had me under the weather for the past few days. But that spaghetti is a whole other story...

Boodle Fight!

FAMILY FEUDS!

What is a boodle fight? When I was new to the country my a friend of mine was telling me a story about how his family would have boodle fights at his home in Basa Air Force base in Florida Blanca Pampanga.
I would have never guessed that he was talking about food. This was very intriguing to me because first of all it was a Filipino tradition that...

Food for the Shot!

Eggs, tortillas , Italian sausage medley

School is out and all your friends are free. A quick call "bro! lets drink". If we all can get a dime, peso,  euro or whatever currency for every time you hear that, we would all be rich , three fold.

Well tonight that happened to me. A friend calls me and says "pare...

Golden Fried Rice

Being Asian, rice is a staple of every meal. But sometimes it gets bland, maybe that's why fried rice was invented? probably not it. I'm sure it had a lot to do with making use of all the left over rice in the kitchen.

The best thing about fried rice is that

Home of the White Sisig

126 food haus - Valenzuela City

Anytime a friend or a relative comes to visit me here in the Philippines I always make sure to take them to a little mom and pop restaurant near my school. So far each person I have taken there has gone crazy about one of there special dishes. I don't know what other patrons call it but I call it White sisig.
I have friends that have gone back to the states that still talk about it and how much they miss it. I also had one friend order white sisig everyday for lunch his final week here in the Philippines before going back abroad. By now you maybe thinking I'm over hyping it but I can assure you it lives up to all the hype.

The Clinic is going green

Bagorio Chicken Salad

Working in a rehab clinic you would think everyone is in great physical health, I mean, it is a Physical rehabilitation clinic right? Wrong! With the demands of helping every patient get better mentally and physically you sometimes forget to take care of yourself. You tell your patient to make better choices when it comes to eating, physical activity and giving up vices. But somewhere in the back of your mind you are also telling yourself the same exact thing. I mean you do have to lead by example right?

First

It all started with him. literally

This blog has been on my mind since I moved to the Philippines and now 6 years later I'm finally starting it. As I sit in my living room floor thinking of what to write for my first entry, I think its fitting that I start it off whit my Dad. Since I was a kid my brother and I always wanted my dad to cook rather than my mom. My mom can cook but my dad was just on another level. He really loves to cook. I can still remember him making my friends try his cooking and if they were shy to try it he would say :
